VIRAC, Catanduanes  — Sorsogon Gov. Raul R. Lee in his 2010 Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN) declared his net worth at P1.8M, thus settling him at the bottom of the list of Bicol governors according to their net worth while Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado with his net worth of P63M ranked second to the richest Bicol provincial governor, LRay Villafuerte of Camarines Sur whose net worth has been placed at P221M is the richest.

Gov. Lee’s 2010 SALN revealed assets on personal and other properties, which include furnitures and appliances acquired at P1,345,000.00 and cash in bank and on hand in the sum of P543,376.00.  No entry was found on Real Properties and Liabilities section of his SALN which assumes that the Sorsogon governor does not own land and building to his name and has no liabilities.

He also did not indicate any business interest and financial connection, including those of his spouse and unmarried children. His relatives in government service include his son, Sorsogon City Vice-Mayor Robert, his daughter Christine and grandson Patrick.

Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado, on the other hand, disclosed a net worth of P131.7M when he was vice-governor in 1995 but this amount dropped to P62.9M five years later when he was elected governor.

In his 2005 SALN, Tallado had  total assets of P133.4M. His Real Properties include a resort, hectares of cocoland, lots and residential buildings in Labo, Camarines Norte; a commercial building in Sta. Mesa, Manila; residential lot in Tagaytay and a 2-storey house and lot in Quezon City. His personal and other properties, on the other hand, include shares of stocks, various vehicles and heavy equipment, jewelries and other accessories, as against his reported liability of P1.6M.

In 2010, Tallado when he was elected governor maintained his real properties and business connection as reported in 2005. However, his personal and other properties previously reported at more than P72M dropped sharply to only P4.5M worth of jewelries. Gone were his shares of stocks, vehicles, heavy equipment and other accessories, as his 2010 SALN indicates.

This reporter tried to reach Gov. Tallado but the latter did not return the text messages sent to him for inquiry.

Meanwhile, Masbate Gov. Rizalina Seachon-Lanete while still congresswoman in 2009 reported her assets at P10.6M. She has inherited majority of her real properties in Cebu and Masbate.

In 2008 SALN, Seachon-Lanete had a net worth of P9,779,905.47. Her assets increased by only P760,576 in the following year as contained in her 2009 SALN which declared a net worth of P10,690,481.22. She has no business and other financial connection and reported no liability.

  • Theanna: I feel sad for young Kisha and her pretty picture, spoiled by a tirade of "the political monstrosity obtaining (sic) in our country..." And it's you, (writer with no name) not her, who "virtually hurled a challenge..." I'm not a professional photographer but I know a lot about it. If this was supposed to be a sunset, where is the sun? If you called it "cogon grass with flowers" that would have been more appropriate. If the picture was enhanced, it was overdone and unrealistic. • Theanna: Thanks Judge for that timely and alarming info on the country's postal service. I thought that by now, things are much better than when I was there. May I add a few cents worth of fond remembrance of the late fabulous Fr. James Reuter, SJ? I never met him but my brothers and male relatives were all Ateneans and Fr.Reuter's name was often mentioned at our house. When I heard that Roxanne of Cyranno de Bergerac was being played by one of the handsomest guys in school, I had to see it. Also, my brother told us about the time our father and he met him on Ateneo Ave. After exchanging greetings, he asked father, " Is he your eldest son?" My father replied, "Oh no, my eldest son is a daughter." The whole family burst into tearful laughter. View Post

  • Theanna: Thanks for the above concerns. I thought I was the only one who sensed something odd, since I read the news printed under the Business section on Nov.15. I posted a comment, after much deliberation, on Nov. 17 re the offensive word in the headline. My simple arithmetic doesn't add up to the expected results of this huge 3billion peso project. I feel like the child in Hans Christian Andersen's story of "The Emperor's New Clothes". I can't figure out how the people there can generate 100 tons of garbage a day. View Post
