SJF, NYC heads ICSCJ ‘05
Anchored with theme “ICSCJ Celebrating 10 Years of Campus Press
Freedom Advocacy,” the Society of Junior Fellows, an honor
organization in the University of Nueva Caceres, together with the
National Youth Commission will spearhead the 2005 Inter-Collegiate
Summit on Campus, Naga City participated by the members of the
editorial board of tertiary school publications within the Bicol
Region.
This annual journalism event aims to provide a training ground for
the development of writing skills of campus journalists, promote
free and responsible campus press and instill in the minds of
campus writers the genuine value of responsibility and commitment
through the medium of campus journalism.
The summit will feature lectures, fora, discussions, individuals
and group rudiments on the following areas of campus journalism:
news writing; feature writing; lay-outing; copy reading and
headline writing; sports writing; editorial writing; editorial
cartooning; photojournalism and investigative reporting. Aside
from individual competitions, it further highlights the Campus
Paper of the Year Award which will be selected from the qualified
entries by the judges, composed of Guest Speakers of the summit.
Special awards such as Best in Lay-out, News Page, Feature Page,
Editorial Page, and Sports Page will be given to deserving school
entries.
This institutional activity of SJF has been successfully conducted
for the past few years not only because of the exemplary
performance and efforts of its organizing committee but because of
their partnership with the National Youth Commission, a proactive
authority on youth development.
