Downtrend
 With
the leadership credibility of PGMA damaged to the fore, she, as
usual, takes every opportunity to fix it. We have noticed the
covert control in her latest photo ops with children for the
celebration of the World Breastfeeding Week in August. It feels
refreshing, but not her words that agonize on her predicament.
Of course she’s devastated. It appears that whatever she does
after the Gloriagate fiasco veer to the unfortunate. She has not
met the expectations of the CBCP, the civil society. What keeps
the masses out of the streets is their tolerance to their own
plight in order to keep their body and soul together. They pass it
on the experience, a nightmare.
One after the other the opposition builds its impeachment chips to
get her before pro-administrations legislators who seem to
languish in retardate gusto their political affinity to the
powers-that-be than to the people they represent, a peg in a round
hole, you may say. This is normal though to the recalcitrant, a
step is a toil and to walk more is behaving like laborers they are
not accustomed to do. It’s awful when you’re in the clouds, you
see minute landmarks rather than branches bending to the wind and
mothers strolling in glee with children at the park. It’s just
that.
But the real score and its gradual unfolding in our midst is more
disturbing. That majority of us don’t believe in La Excellencia is
the very quantitative basis she has to use in repairing her
distorted image in order to gain some grounds, which is overtly
personal. In this case, the impersonal suffers, I mean the
official functions.
An instance evidently seen in government is the preoccupation of
the alter-egos of PGMA doing every known job to counter the moves
of her opponents. Naturally, at the end of the day, exhausted
energies are evaluated in that regard with activities of
legitimate department receding at the background. The trekking of
accomplishments mostly laggardly done by central office
subordinates, if by luck there are any, do dredge down to their
channels in cities and towns at a suspect level. Take every other
subalterns and intimate sympathizers of La Excellencia and their
office manhours plus resources at superior or near-excellent
conditions. You can attribute millions of pesos being lost in a
day. For what it’s worth, government service becomes inutile in an
eager patience to keep one in the choicest seat of Malacañang.
We heard it from PGMA herself when referring to her enemies as
“those who are always in need of money.” That’s it. How do you
react to that? You should bet more and there are proofs of them
right in the halls of Congress. Congressman are being bought to
nod, shake head, and say something.
My gosh, this is a terrifying downtrend. And the terrified poor
count their loose change at night hoping that it will be longer so
that they can keep the coins for a little while till dawn. The bad
thing is when there are no longer of this dearth of money to hold.
