Mayon Volcano
The Pride of
Albay Province
By: Gemini M. Espinas, Sr.
A mountain with a perfect cone, a
lovely maiden
Seemingly virgin and active.
Faint delicate, cool and shy half seemingly to retire
Dangerous and deadly when on fire, Supreme in elegance
A graceful form, fierce, wild and awful, blasting fiery storm.
God nature’s gift, an eyeful delight
A mighty mountain, avalanching fright
The sweening cogonal, the flower orchid, the futile haste
Of Water, raping down the rocky waste.
The wondering gaze, the lifting thoughts of hope,
Refreshing greenery, the gentle slope.
The touch of cloud, the drizzle greenery,
A wish of smoke, the tragic memory…
Our source of pride, A beauty to beware
Rock of hope, our mountain of despair
All add to bless and curse us nature wise
With kiss of hell, A taste of paradise.
