Saulon receives outstanding student
award

Butch
O. Saulon, a BSE-Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of
Nueva Caceres, received another national award when he was chosen
one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) for
2005. Her Excellency, Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, personally
conferred the honors during the 2005 Ten Outstanding of the
Philippines Awarding Ceremonies last July 1, 2005 at the Rizal
Hall, Malacañang Palace. Earlier, Saulon was also a recipient of
the 2005 Mayoral Recognition Award given by the Naga City
government last June 17, 2005. In December 2004, he was Rank 1 in
the Search for Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines. He
was also a delegate to the 6th Ayala Young Leaders Congress in
February 2004.
The Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines is
a rigorous selection process in the school, regional and national
levels. The student nominees are evaluated based on the following
criteria: superior academic performance; responsible leadership
and/or active participation in worthwhile extra-curricular
activities; a deep sense of community awareness and involvement;
personal values anchored on a living faith in God; sensitivity
towards the needs of others and a sincere determination to help;
firm moral conviction and integrity; a pleasing personality and
ability to express oneself.
The annual search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the
Philippines was founded to recognize students who can be held as
role models for others; students who exemplify academic
excellence, exemplary leadership, good moral values, and
determination to serve.
Launched in 1961, the TOSP is a project of the RFM Foundation, the
Commission on Higher Education, the RFM Corporation and in
cooperation with the National book Store and the Rotary Club of
Makati Central. From its beginnings, TOSP has produced outstanding
contributions in the fields of government, bNagueño FilAm couple
here for visitusiness, academe, church and civil society.
