launches the Beat FM 89.5
The Ateneo de Naga University and the Manila Broadcasting Company
(MBC), the nation’s largest radio network and a member of the
Elizalde Group of Companies, has trekked new grounds in media and
communications here in the Bikol region with the launching of the
Beat FM 89.5.
The station has its first actual broadcast last July 1, 2005 but
it will have its formal broadcast launch on July 29, 2005. The
ceremonial switching will take place at the 4 Pillars of the
Ateneo de Naga University. Expected to witness the historic event
are members of the Ateneo academic community and its alumni and
invited guests and friends from the local academic, government and
mass media sector.
The Beat promises to provide its target audience with varieties of
RnB and Jazz music. With an authorized power of up to 10,000
kilowatts, it aims to mark itself as an instrument for the
University’s religious, cultural and educational extension in Naga
and Bikol. Airing time starts at 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. during the
first few months of the operation. It has plans of extending its
program until 12 midnight in the near future.
Mr. Noel Volante, a long-time faculty of the Media Studies
Department of Ateneo, is its Station Manager. Mr. Marco Monteagudo,
a well-known and seasoned disc jockey in Naga, acts as the
Production and Programming Head. The Events and Marketing Head of
the station is Media Studies instructor Ms. Rochelle Manalang.
As part of the radio launch, a blast-off party will be held at
Clubm8 on July 30, 2005.
