Pagsalingoy sa satong eskwelahan
Vince A. Raynes, President
CSNHS Alumni Officers 2005 - 2006

One Hundred Eighty Degrees - Tracing the routes of our roots, with an attitude. Was it not Jose Rizal who prudently reminded the Filipinos, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makakarating sa paroroonan?” This is precisely the goal of the new leadership of the Camarines Sur National High Schools Alumni association, capsulated in the theme, ANG PAGSALINGOY SA SATONG ESKWELAHAN.”

The Alumni Association desires to build itself as a strong and responsible base. A foundation that will catalyze change, in recognition of the need to produce responsive and proactive alumni of CSNHS who share their triumphs with their alma mater, the seat of learning that molded their becoming. This dream however will not materialize without the triumvirate partnership of the school administration, the faculty, and the alumni itself.

To this end, the alumni will embark on a four-pronged development program. First, is the DIRECTORY BUILDING. For the past decades, CSNHS had continually contributed to the development of the region and the entire nation. It had produced the learned and skilled, who service across all sectors of the society. A chasm however is created. The triumphant alumni had no avenue to bring back the glory to the school that molded them, simply because of lack of effective association that has the function of organizing their “pagasalingoy sa eskwelahan.” The directory building aims to identify all alumni and alumnae of the school, to update their whereabouts and ultimately to inculcate a sense of belongingness among them.

Second, is the NETWORKING BUILDING. Once the directory is established, the alumni association aims to sustain communication facilities as in acquiring computer, developing a website, and establishing linkages among alumni via e-mail and thru the World Wide Web and other electronic services. Sustained involvement is likewise the key to create responsive alumni. An alumnus will surely be pleasantly surprised to receive a friendly e-mail from the school or batch mates. Who would not want to be updated of what had happened to whom.
Third, is the FUND RAISING PROJECT. Every machine, to be effective and efficient has to be oiled regularly. On parallel grounds, every endeavor, to materialize, has to be backed with resources. However, the activities will not focus solely on raising funds. The deeper twin goal is to foster camaraderie among alumni. While the association raises the necessary funds, all activities should always involve the alumni. An alumni night at the Lolo’s bar or at the Bistro Roberto will always attain both objectives. A bowling tournament among the alumni, a sports fest, a bingo social, or any simple occasion can be taken advantage of to have this goal to be realized.

Fourth is the institutionalization of the “PAGSALINGOY SA ESKWELAHAN GRAND ALUMNI HOME COMING” as annual celebration that the alumni should look forward to. It should be seen not only to be updated with one’s batch mates, neither as a means only to expand one’s network of connections. The grand alumni homecoming must be seen by each alumnus as an occasion to pay tribute to the school, a token of gratitude to the institution that had taken an active force in his formation .It must be seen as an invaluable occasion to pagsalingoy sa ginikanan .

Thus, an alumni association should form itself through a participatory form of organization, where the organization and the member should share the dream, where both should work hand in hand for the better future of the young Cam Hi. By analogy, as the triumvirate transforms itself the pyramid, each enforcing one another in awakening anew the Love for education that was once embedded in every heart of a Cam Hi.
