NCF bares Project SHARE’s new scholars

Naga College Foundation’s premier scholarship program, Project S.H.A.R.E. for Bicol, presented its first batch of scholars during the MOA-singing with its sponsors on June 16, 2005.

Project S.H.A.R.E. (Sustaining Hope and Access to Responsive Education) is a 10-year scholarship fund drive which aims to help alleviate poverty in the region through the education of young and talented but financially-handicapped Bicolanos.

Project S.H.A.R.E. granted scholarship starting this year to six deserving students in the persons of Mary Linette Gavica, Jelyn Tampos, Mae-Ann Lorena Esperida, Mae Cyril Aure, Roy Brandt Marcial and Beverly Brizuela.

Present during the MOA-signing were Quest Technologies’ Mr. Vic Asuncion, NCF President Dr. Carlo P. Villanueva, NCF Resource Development Officer Ms. Mitzi Padua, and the SHARE scholars.

Quest Technologies, a global telecommunications company based in Hongkong, is one of the main benefactors of Projects SHARE. The company sponsored the full college scholarship of Gavica. Other project donors include Bayer-Philippines, the junior Chamber International-Naga City and signer Christian Bautista.

“SHARE scholars are distinct from the NCF scholars in the way they were screened and interviewed. They were personally handpicked by our benefactors from more than 20 qualified applicants. These six exhibited the greatest potential in excelling both in academics and leadership,” explains Mitzi Padua, SHARE’s project coordinator.
Project SHARE will be funded both by grants and fundraising events spearheaded by the school’s Communications and Development Office. NCF’s initial fund raising event last December, the “Light-a-Tree-for-Education” produced a total of 13 scholarships.
