A GIANT “arco” decked with flowers and hues and lights that
further boost their beauty and shine makes a perfect match for its
radiating Reina Elena, Geline Velayo of St. John the Evangelist
Parish, escorted here by Pancho Alvarez and other friends, during
the Summer Peñafrancia Grand Santacruzan held last Friday in Naga
City. Twelve other Reinas in their dazzling arcos from Naga and
other parishes in Camarines Sur, supported by 17 other secondary
Biblical characters, joined her in the spectacular procession that
enthralled parishioners who lined up the procession route towards
Plaza Quezon where a program and street party awaited them.
This
land is mine. Settlers at Abella estate along Balatas Road
near the Peñafrancia Basilica in Naga City hold on to themselves
as human shields against the approaching demolition team that has
a court order to eject them from the site. (Neil Cezar Aureus)
