AIM alumni association in Bicol

Inspired by the new impetus shown by its mother chapter, the Alumni Association of AIM (AAAIM), or Triple A, the institutionalization of the AIM Alumni Relations Office SERVE and the frequent contacts with their alma mater, the AIM graduates in Bicol are once again converging towards the animation of its association.

The first Bicol AIM Alumni Association, organized some seven to ten years ago, was formed with the late Abe Navera, MBM, Phillip Imperial, MBM, Jojo Tuazon MM 89, Bong Sison, MBM and Danny de Leon, MBM 82 who, being the youngest in the group, still seething with fire from AIM was unanimously commissioned to lead the group. Several meetings materialized, initiated by De Leon, but more for socialization and reminiscing the AIM experience. It was a “business decision,” the group claimed. The pressure-cooker atmosphere, dizzying pace of work and fierce competition at AIM, was the very kind of environment the alumni desired to avoid. Never again, the core group would sing in chorus.

However, De Leon’s travels became more frequent, and at times, extended. Thus, the alumni association was always left with the vice president, who, after sometime, decided to leave the comforts of his tenurial deanship and professorial chair ultimately “to escape the conundrum of academic life and to exchange those AIM chips to dollars and cents,” he wrote. Then another convenor, Abe Navera joined His Creator ahead of everybody. With Phillip Imperial becoming a Rotary Governor and a member of the international training team, meetings became seasonal. Bong Sison was immersed in his passion for the better things in life, and Jojo Tuazon with his political ambition. Like the proverbial MR (management report) of AIM, the organization meets only “when time permits.” It became annual reunions, nothing more. The alumni association hibernated for awhile, but never lost its soul.

Today, with their businesses “secured” and their families aptly provided, the AIM Tigers of Bicol are once again showing their fangs, gnashing their teeth and sharpening their claws. They too are drawing the younger ones too, and some cubs, to their den. AIM “provides” a wealth of resources to its students, and graduates, to enhance the continued impact of its education. With a network that consists of more than 30,000 alumni from five continents, in 70 countries, the Institute envisions a vibrant community life and relationship between the alma mater and its graduates. Thus, S.E.R.V.E. was born designed to build and strengthen the AIM alumni Relations services. It stands for: Services and benefits. Executive Education. Recognition. Ventures, and Events.

AIM Alumni Association Bicol will soon rejoin the AAAIM Philippine chapter, with Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Bacolod, Iloilo, Bohol, Bulacan, Pampanga, and the Federation AIM Alumni Associations with chapters strategically operating throughout the world. The latest addition being AIM Alumni Association of Canada.

Therefore, to renew ties with old friends and former classmates, meet the new breed of AIMers trail-blazing the horizons, explore possibilities and opportunities, or just reminisce , --- the scalpel- precise analysis during QA (Quantitative Analysis for Decision Making), or nerve-wracking Business Policy, or the savvy of Marketing Management, the empathy of Human Behavior in Organizations (HBO), the thrill of Development of Enterprises (DE) or Management of Change,(MC), the complexity of Sources and Uses of Power (SUP), --- AIM graduates in Bicol are encouraged to register now. All graduates of the two-year, full-time MBM/MBAs, one year MMs, and other programs, including special and short-term courses, are invited to join.         Among the planned projects to be pursued is LEADERSPEAK, a management leadership fora patterned after AIM’s leaders convergence of CEOs where the alumni interacts with distinguished and exemplary business leaders, Bicol AIM Alumni Directory and WebPage, a management and leadership development lecture series, and an annual AIM alumni association re-union in Bicol, inviting national and international alumni guests.
