Erring teacher faces ax

DAET, Camarines Norte- After an administrative case had been filed against her by Moreno Integrated School’s General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA), Eva Q. Vargas, teacher at the integrated school, is in danger of being dismissed from service.

In a two-page decision of Department of Education (DepEd) regional director Celedonio Layon, Vargas was formally charged of Administrative Case No. 17- 2006 for allegedly violating Section 1, Chapter VI of DepEd Order No. 33; series of 1999, of RA 6713 covering “dishonesty, malfeasance, conduct grossly prejudicial to the best interest of service,” of RA 3019 (the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), and of several DepEd orders.

The school’s GPTA president Oliver Pardo had filed the complaint to the office of Ariston Villareal, this province’s school division superintendent, before it was attended by the division investigating committee of DepEd regional office.

Vargas was found out to have been possibly liable for the charges filed against her after, as the TLE chairman of the integrated school, she allegedly had collected P50 per month from all third and fourth year high school students, failed to properly account the total computer fee collections up to present date despite continuous collection, reported numerous food purchase receipts in a financial report as “representation” in daily bases, purchased “overpriced” equipments using the computer fees collected for computer maintenance without proper canvass or bidding.

Given five days (72 hours) to file her counter-affidavit, the teacher previously denied the charges against her, dismissing them as malicious accusations.
