Dalan sa Kalangitan hopefuls

gear up for Kaogma festival

Twenty-six singing hopefuls already await their chance to show their stuff and belt out their singing prowess as the district levels competition of Dalan sa Kalangitan, the Kaogma Festival's premier singxing contest, draws near.

Last February 3 & 4, 2006, two names were added to a growing roster of municipal level winners as Jela Ignao, 18, of Sta. Elena, Iriga City and Rosabel M. Dais, 20, of San Isidro, Bombon were declared first place winners in their respective competitions.

Scheduled this Friday, Febru ary 10, is the town of Balatan after which only the municipalities of Sipocot (Feb. 17), Sagnay (Feb. 18), Lupi (Feb. 24), Gainza (Feb. 25), Cabusao (Mar. 3), Camaiigan (Mar. 4), Naga City (Mar. 10), Caramoan (Mar. 17), Garchitorena (Mar. 24), and Siruma (Mar. 31) remain to be visited and the singing contest be conducted prior to the district levels competition that is slated on April.

Jimmy Letada, who acts as the project director, said in a recent interview that Gov. LRay Villafuerte somewhat revised the contest rules for the district level by adding the winning entries who will move up to the grand finals from the original first 2 winners to the present top three winners. This means that instead of only 8 contestants from the 4 districts, there will now be 12 singing questors representing the 4 districts of Camarines Sur who will compete and outshine one another during the grand finals night on May 22, 2006.

Joining recent winners Ignao and Dais to the district competition are: Mark Anthony V. Bombuhay of Goa, Ma. Veronica Alarcon of Nabua, Jefre Sarabejo of Ragay, Shery! Dimanarig of Buhi, Salvador Mimay of Tigaon, Jason Tanao-tanao of Minalabac, William Milante, Jr. of Lagonoy, Elen Kachiri Priela of Bato, Ninette Sandagon of Libmanan, Jovelyn Agreda of Milaor, Rosmel Oropesa of Pasacao, Rico Zapanta of Tinambac, Ernadine Arellano of Calabanga, Noel Palero of San Jose, Jackielyn Panday of Del Gallego, Joan Roadiel of Buta, Michael Bongayao of Baao, Mark Aaron B.
