NAGA CITY – Extensive
and centralized operations of jueteng in Camarines Sur managed by
at least 11 maintainers or table managers are yielding more than
P2.8M daily in bet collections, according to an intelligence
report reaching Bicol Mail.
The matrix-form document showed that 11 percent of the daily take
goes as “goodwill” money to certain personalities tagged as RD and
PD of the Philippine National Police who apportion certain amount
to “friendly” mediamen.
The same dossier described the operations of the illegal numbers
game as endemic in the province. It also showed that except for
the 2nd district, all the remaining three districts of the
province, namely, the Railroad (1st), Partido (3rd), and Rinconada
(4th) districts are presently experiencing full swing operations
of the illegal numbers game.
Jueteng operations in Camarines Sur’s 2nd district are hampered by
Mayor Jesse M. Robredo’s campaign against the illegal gambling,
the same source said.
PNP Provincial Director Supt. Romeo P. Mapalo maintained that
Camarines Sur is jueteng-free. Instead of jueteng correadores,
policemen under his supervision have allegedly apprehended kabos
who were collecting bets for EZ2, Mapalo said.
The report also contained information that jueteng operators even
hold jueteng draws near the workstations of local government
personnel and officials.
In Minalabac, Camarines Sur, jueteng draws are held in a vacant
lot only a stone’s throw away from the town’s police station, a
claim quickly refuted by P/INS. Benjamin España, the town’s police
chief.
The document pointed to a table manager with initials “Y.V.” for
Minalabac-Milaor-San Fernando area that chalks up a daily
collection of P160,000.
Daily bets coming from the towns of Ocampo and Pili amounting to
P150,000, according to the same document, are drawn in a sprawling
lot in Barangay Maycatmon, Milaor, at the back of the Provincial
Capitol with a certain “B.B.” as maintainer.
In Bato, Camarines Sur, a retired policeman is said to be calling
the shots in jueteng operations in Baao-Nabua-Bato area whose
jueteng banks registers a daily take of more than P300,000.
More about jueteng updates:
In Partido, jueteng operations covering Lagonoy-San Jose-Goa area
rake in P180,000 daily with a certain J.C. in the frontline as
table manager. Conde manages the jueteng draws 3 times a day in a
place called Bahai near the boundary of Goa and San Jose towns.
Tigaon and Sagñay bets that reach more than P120,000 per day are
drawn in an undisclosed ricefield in Tigaon by still unidentified
table manager.
In Rinconada area, the source also linked a barangay official with
initials “I.T.” of Tapayas, Balatan to jueteng operations in
Bula-Balatan area which amass P180,000 everyday. Jueteng draws are
held in his barangay.
A certain “B.A.” was implicated also as the maintainer of illegal
gambling in Buhi-Iriga area that pulls off more or less P300,000
from bettors. Draws are held in Barangay Sagrada, Iriga City.
Combined daily collections from Naga City, Magarao, Canaman,
Camaligan, and Gainza placed at P500,000 are drawn in Sitio Tribu,
Haring, Canaman. The amount is obviously higher than any other
jueteng stations as it is beefed up by the collections gathered by
the group of a certain “E.O.” which is separately drawn in
Barangay Siembre, Bombon, Camarines Sur.
In a statement volunteered by a PNP intelligence operative to
Bicol Mail revealed that Tinambac (P90,000) and Tamban (P180,000)
have separate places of draws but are both under the supervision
of a certain “C.M.”, reportedly a son of a known lawyer.
In the Railroad district of Pasacao and Pamplona which recorded a
P150,000 daily bet collection, jueteng draws are managed by a
certain “A.M.” and held at the coastal town of Pasacao. “A.M.” is
also allegedly in charged of jueteng draws in Libmanan town which
registers a daily take of P190,000 and in Sipocot-Lupi area which
draws a daily collection of P180,000. The Ragay-Del Gallego area
which recorded a P130,000 daily take, it is reportedly managed by
a man identified by his initials “O.L.” |
