Three stooges

The three members of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan of Camarines Sur: Mr. Waren Senar, Mr. Angel Naval and Mr. Rex Oliva must have been possessed. If not possessed, these three stooges must have been intoxicated when they continue to defend the defilement of Plaza Rizal.

No self-serving politician can defend his or her acts of barbarism. No self-centered politician will stand and defend the desecration of a monument.

Here is a primer to these three stooges, read Dr. Jose Rizal’s El Filibusterismo again, to which you owe your very own freedom to be elected and in public office. If not for Dr. Jose Rizal, you are still kissing the white butt of the Spaniards. Here is a passage that you should contemplate:

“When I have white hair like that Señor, and my vision goes back to my past, and I see that I have worked only for myself without doing the good that I could or should for the country that has given me everything, for the citizens who have helped me live, then, Señor, each white hair would be a thorn and instead of glorying in them, I would feel shame.”  – El Filibusterismo, Jose Rizal

That is the very essence why politicians should do better for the public good.

Be that as it may, the city of Naga can do something about this mess.

The only reason why these vendors are congregating in that hollowed place is because of money. Take away the ability to make a profit the merchants will go away.

The city can start making it harder to do business there by enforcing the traffic regulations, if there is none, create one. Make loitering and littering around Plaza Rizal a crime. Enforce the waste and sanitation regulations. Make them pay to collect garbage. Lastly, create an atmosphere of competition. The city can create an open public market perhaps along the whole street of Igualdad. Just like in Cebu City where two blocks of open public market is one of the city’s tourist attractions. There is nothing better than to have an open but regulated public market; it is a place where an orgy of capitalism and consumerism can perform at their best.
