2 Ateneans made it big in the
field of entrepreneurship
Once
again, the entrepreneurial capabilities of Nagueños were
recognized when two Ateneans, both from the Business Management
Honors Program (BMHP) of Ateneo de Naga University, were cited for
their excellent performances in the field of entrepreneurship.
Mr. Gian Carlo de la Paz, a 4th year BMHP student won 1st prize in
the Business Plan Competition - Service Category in the ENEDA CUP
competition held during the GONEGOSYO Summit and Expo last
February 23-26, 2006 at the Market!Market!, Bonifacio Global City,
Taguig, Metro Manila. He bested representatives from big schools
in Metro Manila and from nearby provinces. San Beda College was
2nd and De la Salle University placed 3rd in the said competition.
Mr. Jonie Bernaldez on the other hand, a 3rd year BMHP student,
was cited by Mr. Joey Concepcion III in his welcome speech during
the forum on Building National Confidence and Optimism to Inspire
More Successful Entrepreneurs for his business acumen. Though only
19 years of age and still a college student, Jonie already is
successful in the small business he put up and is able to pay back
the loan he received from the school. He now also is capable of
lending sufficient amount to his fellow students for them to start
also their own small businesses. (See Philippine Daily Inquirer,
March 5, 2006 page B1)
Since its start last 2001, the Business Management Honors Program
has produced many small and medium-scale entrepreneurs with the
aim of alleviating poverty in Bicol through business.
