Iriga City- Recognizing the importance of the young people in the life and mission of the Catholic Church, the Rinconada Priests Association and the youth leaders of Rinconada will hold the first ever Rinconada Priests and Youth Summer Festival this coming May 17-19, 2006 at the University of Saint Anthony in Iriga City.

In the ecclesiastical jurisdiction, the Rinconada Area covers the vicariates of Saint Raphael the Archangel, Holy Cross and Saint Anthony of Padua.

This includes the parishes of Pili, Baao, Iriga, Buhi, Nabua, Bato and Balatan.

Fr. Mariano Catura I, director of the Rinconada Youth Council, said that there is a timely need for young people to gather and celebrate their Catholic faith.

This Summer Festival will be another opportunity for young people to discuss and re-learn basic gospel values and share their experiences and creativity to one another.

It is apt that Christians should take a bold step to live up their faith in time when pessimism and religious indifference influencing the minds of the young people. Fr. Catura revealed the highlights of this three-day event: there will be an interactive talk show and a sport fest which will be participated in by Caceres clergy and the young people.

Rev. Fr. Rex Hidalgo who was recently reinstated in his previous position as the Archdiocesan Youth Director will preside the opening mass on May 17, 2006.

“By encouraging the youth to engage in sports and other artistic endeavors, we can be assured that there will be a new springtime in the church— our young people carry the torch of hope,” Fr. Catura said.
