Supporter ran amok

DAET – A drunk barangay kagawad and a known opposition supporter ran amok with a knife in the middle of the speech of incumbent mayor, here, while having a political forum with fellow Lakas-KAMPI members at Barangay 8 on Saturday night.

        Allies of Mayor Elmer “Eming” Panotes came to the rescue and held barangay councilman Emmanuel Asis, Sr. 57 years old, married, and a resident of the said barangay.

        It was learned that before the arrest made by SPO 4 Blumen Bismonte, security aide to Panotes, Asis shouted invectives to the mayor while the former was speaking at Suzara Street by the corner of Vicente Basit Street, according to a group belonging to the Panotes Youth movement.

        The said group claimed that Asis is an ally of former Mayor Tito Sarion who is running under the United Opposition against Panotes.

        Panotes had no intention of filing a case against Asis, the Bicol Mail was told, and that he is leaving it to the DILG and COMELEC to take action on the incident.



Thief falls

DAET – A known thief fell on the hands of authorities when chanced by the PNP here.

        PO1 Elmer Azures arrested on the strength of the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ramon Arejola, MTC-Daet, Rommel Mendones, while resting in the house of his grandmother at Barangay Mancruz, Sunday afternoon.

        Mendones alias Puyat is facing a robbery case in Daet.



Dynamite Confiscated

DAET – A resident of Purok 4, Barangay 4, here, was caught by surprise by operatives of the Regional Special Operation Group (RSOG) while the former had in custody 40 pieces of dynamite, 35 meters of safety fuse, three sacks of ammonium nitrate and 700 dynamite jumbo.

        P/Insp. Santiago Cuntapay, Camarines Norte RSOG chief, headed the arrest of suspect Levy Young Co with the warrant issued by Judge Winston Racoma of RTC-Daet, Branch 39.

        A case of illegal possession of explosives will be filed against the 49-year old Co.



Stolen van recovered

STA. ELENA – The PNP Traffic Management Group recovered a stolen passenger van in the checkpoint at the length of Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tabugon in the early morning of Saturday, April 21.

        SPO3 Hermogenes Saludes, team leader of the TMG field office, led the chase for the white Hi-Ace van with plate no. AER-713 that caused the apprehension of its driver.

        Arrested in the van was Alfredo Caballero of 1693 Burbank Brookside Hills, Cainta, Rizal who is currently under TMG investigation.

        From the records of the TMG, the vehicle was carnapped on December 28, 2005 at the National Road, Barangay San Lorenzo, Zambales and its owner is a certain Edna Barrera, resident of Vacon, Candelaria of the same province.
