SORSOGON CITY -- The Sorsogon Police Provincial Office has stepped-up its campaign on education awareness on the importance of community partnership in the policing system in crime prevention.
P/Sup’t. Edgardo L. Ardales, Sorsogon PPO operations chief, said the PPO has started the series of dialogues with barangay officials and tanods giving importance to their roles as force multipliers in the prevention and control of crimes in their respective localities.
Ardales said through the Ugnayan sa Barangay Laban sa Krimen project the role of barangay officials is given emphasis in settling disputes and in formulating appropriate barangay ordinances that will help in the crime prevention campaign and maintenance of peace and order in the locality.
The Barangay Tanod on the other hand are acquainted with techniques in patrolling, strategic planning, positioning in strategic and crime prone areas, modus operandi of criminals, and self defense techniques.
Residents are also appraised of their supportive role in the internal security campaign in the fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the community. (Sorsogon PPO release)
