LEGAZPI CITY -- Some 18,840 families in the six provinces of Bicol are slated to benefit from the Food for Work program of the government, being implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The program launching in Bicol was held on Tuesday, July 24 at the Anislag Resettlement Site in Barangay Anislag in Daraga, Albay.
In attendance to the Bicol launching of the government’s food for work program were Daraga town mayor Cicero Triumfante, DSWD Bicol Regional Director Jim N. Rebustillo and Shunichi Kudo, program manager of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as special guest.
Rebustillo said in this project the beneficiary family involved in the shelter construction will receive a food pack worth P200 per day of which two packs will be provided alternately.
The first pack contains three kilos of rice, four cans of sardines, six packs of instant noodles and two cans of corned beef, while the second pack contains three kilos of rice, four cans of pork and beans, a 250 kg pack of dilis and a 700 gram pack of mongo.
Rebustillo explained that the beneficiaries will receive food packs for 10 days while those involve in other community projects will receive food packs depending on the number of days they work.
The food pack is good for a family of five or six, he said. (EEJerusalem)
