Gov. Typoco proclamation suspended;
12 mayors have no problem
DAET, Camarines Norte – The proclamation of the winning governor here was twice suspended after his opponent filed an election protest, while those victorious in running for congress, vice governor, and 12 town mayors were already proclaimed by Comelec.
Incumbent Governor Jesus “Atoy” Typoco, Jr. (Lakas CMD-KAMPI) garnered a total 80,830 votes against his rival Vice Governor Edgardo Tallado (United Opposition) with 78,287 votes, a difference of 2,543.
Five of the winning board members: Teresita Malubay, Michael Arthur Canlas, Elpidio Tenorio, Pamela Pardo, and Jeffrey Pandi were unhappy over being included in the protest filed by Tallado against Typoco.
According to Atty. Perfecto Nixon Tabora, legal counsel of Tallado, the questioned irregularities came from the municipalities of Jose Panganiban, Paracale, and Labo.
Meanwhile, former BIR commissioner, Atty. Liwayway Vinzons-Chato with 81,855 votes won over incumbent Congressman Renato Unico, Jr. who garnered 80,102 votes.
Chato was accordingly proclaimed by Atty. Said Ali Maganduga, Provincial Board of Canvasser, on May 23, which preceded by only a day the proclamation of the winning Vice Governor Roy Padilla, Jr., the elder brother of action icon Robin Padilla.
Following the proclamation of Padilla were those of the new board members, Jonah Pimentel, Ruth Herrera, Jose “Buding” Segundo, and Romeo “Kalbo” Marmol; Ligayo Pedron was unable to join the group.
The 12 town mayors proclaimed by the local Comelec included: Silverio Quiñones (lakas-Kampi), Basud; Ernesto Jalgalado (Lakas-Kampi), Capalonga; Tito Sarte Sarion (United Opposition), Jose Panganiban; Romeo Moreno (Lakas-Kampi), Paracale; Dominador Mendoza (Lakas-Kampi), Sta. Elena; Edgar Ramores (Lakas-Kampi), San Lorenzo Ruiz; Stanley Alegre (Lakas-Kampi), San Vicente; Rodolfo Gache (Lakas-Kampi) Talisay; and, Oliver Ferrer (United Opposition), Vinzons.
