Why Not Jess?
Dr. Joaquin F. Perez Jr’s article regarding the current vacancy in the post of Chairman of the Commission on Elections after the resignation of Chairman Benjamin Abalos, endorsing Naga City Mayor for 17 years, Hon. Jesse Robredo, is quite far from reality. Commission on Elections is one of the three constitutional commissions. The provision in the prime law of the land regarding the qualifications of the Chairman of the Comelec is that he shall be a member of Philippine Bar. If my memory serves me right, Jesse is a Mechanical Engineer graduating from De La Salle University, and, it is his wife, not he, who is a member of Philippine Bar.
