MOBILE PASSPORT SERVICE. With machine-readable passports still on its final stages prior to its full implementation, hundreds of passport applicants again flocked at the Provincial Capitol Lobby on November 19, 2007 scrambling to be issued the few remaining green passports before they are finally phased out and replaced by the machine readable kind, Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte has the foresight to offer the mobile passport service (MRS) to his constituents to Iighten their burden of traveling either to Legazpi City or even to faraway Manila just to get or renew their passports, a basic requirement for overseas employment or even for leisure travel. VILLAR WELCOMES NEW JAPANESE ENVOY: Senate President Manny Villar receives a gift from Japanese Ambassador Makoto Katsura during the former’s visit to the Senate. During the courtesy call, Villar cited the very important help the Japanese government is giving in the ongoing peace process between the government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The envoy started his tour of duty in the country last September.

MARCHING COMPETITION. Atty. Remelisa Alfelor Moraleda, the young President of UNEP, is flanked by officers of the Philippine Army headed by Col. Carlos E. Luces CAV (GSC) Philippine Army-Brigade Commander of the 902nd Infantry Brigade 9th Infantry Division Philippine Army, who conducted the Regional Military Parade and Best Marching Unit Competition at the UNEP Grounds last October 20, 2007. Unlike the Peñafrancia Fiesta Military Parade Competitions which give away trophies only for the winning contingent, Mrs. Delicia Afelor Tibi, VP for Finance of UNEP disclosed that a total of 184,000 pesos in cash and tokens were distributed to the winners and delegations of the 21 schools and colleges who participated in the whole day activity. Seventy certificates and dozens of medals were also awarded at the closing ceremonies while the Philippine Army also gave out a number of cash scholarship assistance to deserving cadets from various schools during the same occasion.
