2 fishermen blasted by dynamite

DAET, Camarines Norte -- Two local fishermen almost lost their lives when a dynamite they were using for illegal fishing exploded on them at the waters of Barangay Bagasbas here on Monday morning, October l.

        The victims, Abraham Custodio Jr., 30, and Virgilio Abordo, 46, both residents of the said barangay, were rushed to the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital where Custodio, with more injuries, had his right hand cut off. Abordo was in stabler condition after the medical treatment.

        The families of the fishermen who were recovering from shock said that around ll:l5 in the morning the duo went offshore to fish in spite of the big waves brought by the past typhoon.

        While on the lookout for the source of the explosives, the authorities were contemplating on filing a case against the culprits.

        Meanwhile, small fishermen at Jose Panganiban town complained on the use of “Taksay” where a lighted net catches all sorts of fishes . They claimed that they were dismayed of the lukewarm attention they were getting from the PNP of said town and the MARITIME on their complaint.
