The Naga College Foundation Library Services takes pride in its two (2) librarians who were recently elected as officers of the Bicol Region Librarians Council (BRLC).
The election was held during a Seminar-Workshop on “Developing Competencies of Librarians/Information Specialists for Quality Service” last September 28 to 29, 2007, at the Aquinas University in Legazpi City. Also present during the event are officials of the Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) namely Ms. Susima Gonzalez (president) and Prof. Thelma Kim (vice-president). The BRLC is under the umbrella of PLAI.
Ms. Elvira Obias, NCF Graduate Studies Librarian; was elected as member of the BRLC Board of Directors with the main function of implementing the vision, mission and objectives of the council as well as the realization of the council’s plans.
While NCF’s Chief Librarian, Ms. Donabella Marilag, is now part of the BRLC National Board of Trustees to PLAI. She will be representing the council during the monthly meetings of the PLAI Board of Trustees; and will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of the activities of the chapter at the national level.
Marilag and Obias work hand in hand with the NCF library staff in the realization of the institution’s plans and vision. As officers of the Bicol Region Librarians Council, they take pride in promoting the importance of the library and other information centers that contribute to knowledge and learning. The NCF Library is in the process of automating the library system, with the LIBRO Software as its adoptive system.
