LEGAZPI CITY –- Councilor Julio Tingzon of Guinobatan was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League PCL), Albay chapter, during election held last Saturday at Hotel Casablanca.
Tingzon garnered 104 votes while Councilor Elisa ‘Ging’ Nebres of Camalig received 63 votes and Councilor Ramon Lawenko of Daraga got 9 votes.
Councilor Karen Matza of Tabaco City was elected vice president by garnering 100 votes as against the 67 votes of Councilor Amado Mier of Daraga.
Out of the 188 city and municipal councilors in Albay, only 177 were present during the election.
The other officers elected were: Councilor Bryan Berdin of Bacacay, secretary-general. Councilor Lourdes Berces of Tabaco City, treasurer; Councilor Christopher Balevino of Guinobatan, auditor; Councilor Avelino Benalla of Malilipot, PRO; and Councilor Noel Tuazon of Malinao, business manager.
Board of directors: Councilors Salvador Oro, Pioduran; Alfredo Balbin, Sto. Domingo; Valerio Palima, Pioduran; Oscar Santillan, Legazpi City; Jesus Luis Mores Jr., Camalig; Fred Reburiano, Oas; Ma. Socorro Sambitan, Polangui and Ranni Kho Manallo, Pioduran.
Tingzon will replace Oas Councilor Atty. Arecio Rendor as Albay PCL president. Besides serving as councilor of Guinobatan, Tingzon will also become ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Albay.
In a radio interview, Bendor said he did not run for the presidency of PCL Albay because he was concentrating his campaign on a nationwide scale for national president of PCL. At present, Rendor is the national executive vice president of the association.
For his part, Tingzon assured his predecessor that all councilors of Albay will give their full support to the candidacy of Atty. Rendor.
