LEGAZPI CITY – US Senator Robo Cam Roach (Rep.-Washington State) has deployed the one year and a half delay of a container van of medical Supplies and equipment from the United States at a Philippine port.
The lady solon met the media shortly after paying her courtesy on Albay Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda at the Governor’s Guesthouse Monday.
“I’m here to support the Filipino – American who want to support back and help the people of the Philippines develop especially in health care,” the lady senator said.
She said she had gone to Pilar, Sorsogon to support the efforts of Fil-American Dr. Expedita Castro, her husband Jessie, and their son Dr. Rico Castro, who had established a hospital for the poor in this town.
“I want to show my support and also to communicate to the people of the Philippines that Fil-Americans are supporting their fellow Filipinos back home,” she added.
Roach lamented, however, that the donated medical supplies and equipment intended for poor Filipinos had long been delayed.
“Lives were lost because we could not deliver the donated cargo to the hospital. The donors wanted to make sure that their donations reach the people without delay,” she said.
“True, the cargo has been delivered but it took us one year and a half,” she said.
But the visiting lawmaker decine to identify the person or agency responsible for the delay.
“I hope that this will not happen again,” she said.
