BICOLANOS in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, have the best of their time renewing their acquaintanceship with old friends and ‘kahimanwa’ and knowing the other ‘oragons’ from other provinces of the Bicol Region who converged and gathered under the reflections of the sun at the Earles Park last August 3, 2008.
The occasion was formed by the officers and members of the Bicol Canada Community Association (BCCA) headedN by its president, businessman Rafael Nebres, who is also the general manager of Action Honda.
What was surprising was the big turn-out of Bicolanos with more than 300 warm bodies in attendance. In fact, Ms. Angeles Javier Aureus, the widow of the late Leon Sa. Aureus, the founder of Bicolandia’s newspaper, Bicol Mail, motored all the way from Windsor to join his sons, Leon J. Aureus, Jr., one of the founders of the BCCA from Mississauga, and Jose J. Aureus from Brampton.
Fr. Jose Pena of Catanduanes was the officiating priest during the Holy Mass honoring the miraculous Patroness of the Bicol Region, Our Lady of Penafrancia.
Joseph Redoblado, the immediate past president of the Bicol Canada Community Association (BCCA), was very much supportive of the programs and projects of the organization.
Tenny Soriano, president of the Philippine Press Cub - Ontario (PCCO), accompanied by his wife, Myrna, graced the Bicolanos family affair. Mr. Soriano is a native of Tanza. Cavite.
