A MEDIA forum with the theme: “Media Hype: At the Crossroads Between Self promotion and Service” was held last August 9, 2008 at 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary Auditorium with Prof. Bernard Canaberal, the host of the TV Program, Family Rosary Crusade, as the Main Speaker.

        The Caceres Commission on Communications, headed by Fr. Luisito A. Occiano, sponsored the forum to echo the message of the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, last World Communications Day (May 2008) entitled “The Media: At the Crossroads between Self-Promotion and Service. Searching for the Truth in order to Share it with Others” It also aimed at promoting responsible use of the powerful means of social communications. In so doing, we contribute for the quest of truth and at the same time, correct the pervasive influence of the media in our world.

        Prof. Canaberal is the Executive Director of the Family Rosary Crusade in Manila. He is a respected media practitioner, a noted value-formator and renowned speaker who goes around the country and the region of Asia giving talks, lectures and seminars on Media Production and Media Literacy Education.

        About 300 participants coming from different schools, parishes and other institutions, as well as media practitioners, attended the said forum. Amy Villafuerte, ABS-CBN Naga Manager, and Lizel Macatangay, of Philippine Information Agency, were the reactors of the forum.
