The Arejola Foudation for Social Responsibility (AFSR) will receive on August 30 the Gawad Pedro Bucaneg, one of the top prizes given by Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL).
The awarding ceremony will coincide with the union’s 34th convention and will be held at the GSIS Museum of Arts at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex. The convention’s guest of honor will be South Korean novelist Bang Hyun-seok who will discuss the convention’s theme “Trading Words, Tracing Worlds.”
AFSR is a Naga City-based foundation that has been active in the promotion of Bicol literature. Annually, it gives the Premio Tomas Arejola para sa Literaturang Bikolnon through a literary contest open to all Bicolano writers.
