Yes, sir; it sucks!

YOUR August 7, 2008 editorial sucks! Gari raot na plaka! Since January, this year, your editorial writer sees nothing evil but Naga City or its City Mayor, as if it is the worst city with the worst city mayor this country ever had. Besides, such editorials, devoid of fair presentation and objective discussion of issues, have been sounding like a column of a spurned writer who has an axe to grind against a specific person. And you purport Bicol Mail to be a “regional newspaper’?

Such hypocrisy, such vile! From what planet did your editorial writer come from?

From what I know, he (not necessarily the editor, as we have learned) was once a school principal of a school nobody recalls its name or even bothers that it once existed in Naga until it banished to a nearby town. Such school where he was its principal rose from the rubbles of an important landmark in the city which was flattened by its new owner for presumably a budding educational institution. As it was, he felt comfortable holding his office there despite his much-vaunted advocacy for cultural enrichment and preservation as what his editorials were trying to tell us, your readers.

To be fair to your readers who come from other corners of the Bicol region, we suggest that your editorial from time to time broaden its scope and expose other incidence of abuses and graft, far more pronounced and despicable, that are taking place in other parts of the region and stinking even to high heavens as what the weekly news dispatches in your newspaper fearlessly and objectively tries to unravel.
