According to the weather bureau known as PAG-ASA, the Philippines is visited on the average by 19 tropical cyclones every year, and has listed Bicol as one of the regions most frequently hit by typhoons accompanied by strong winds and heavy rains which result in enormous damage to property and massive loss of lives.
This is the primary reason why the Aman Engineering Office designed and introduced an innovative house construction method dubbed A.R.I.S.E. (Aman Engineering Reliable Innovation for Stronger, Economical, & Environment-friendly) Technology to address the need to build stronger but economical, calamity-resistant homes. The Aman Engineering Office is a homegrown Bicolano engineering & construction company engaged in various vertical & horizontal projects that include planning, design, and construction activities. At present it is the exclusive contractor of Enjoy Realty & Development Corporation in all its land development, housing, & subdivision projects.
A.R.I.S.E. Technology was conceptualized and designed by Engr. Emeterio “Boy” L. Aman, CE together with a pool of engineers and architects from the Aman Engineering Office and the Enjoy Realty & Development Corporation. Its reliability was built on 25 years of solid experience and accomplishments in Planning & Design, Structural Design, Project Management & Supervision, Land Development among others. This was attested to by HLURB when it awarded the Enjoy Realty & Development Corporation with the titles “2007 Leading Developer in the Bicol Region-Philippines”, and “2007 Best Development Design in the Philippines-Bicol”
The house construction method used under the A.R.I.S.E. Technology is not only revolutionary but is also a pragmatic and feasible innovation. For instance, the steel forms used are bended form of BI sheets with specially-designed strap-type fasteners, and are easy to use. On the other hand, the solid concrete wall (buhos) is done simultaneously with the roof slab and/or slab, thus, making the house stronger and structurally stable. Cast as a single unit, it results into a monolithic slab, where footings, foundation and slab are a single, integral unit.
Since the whole house is made of solid concrete (buhos) using A.R.I.S.E. technology, it is many times stronger than the conventional-type houses which are constructed using hollow blocks, columns, beams, & concrete slabs for flooring. It has a solid floating foundation which prevents damage to the structure due to strong earthquake, and a functionally-designed solid concrete roof that can withstand the onslaught of strong typhoons with wind velocity of more than 250 km/hour. It must be noted that conventional roofing make use of expensive galvanized irons and trusses that are easily demolished by passing typhoons every now and then.
It is economical because the A.R.I.S.E. Technology costs 20%-30% less compared to the conventional method commonly used today. This is possible due to the reduced costs of materials and labor used in making forms for beams, columns, slabs, etc. that are fabricated with the use of plywoods, lumber, nails, etc. A.R.I.S.E. Technology makes use of steel forms and braces which can be re-used time and again, maybe hundreds of times. This result in the efficient use of labor and spreads the construction costs to the minimum amount. Additional savings can be realized with this technology since it eliminates the use of costly wood door and window jambs. Likewise the cement plaster-finished on both sides of the wall would also save a lot of money for the homeowner.
We can also say that this technology is environment-friendly because by decreasing the demand for plywood, coco lumber, and other wood products, we are helping protect and preserve our trees and forests. In fact, using the steel forms is the most practical and economical alternative in constructing a house without the rampant and wasteful usage of lumber and wood.
The A.R.I.S.E. house construction Technology is now made available for all Bicolanos who want to live in homes that last- beautiful homes that are safe, durable, and comfortable.
