CamSur chosen as pilot
site for eco-town project

TAGUIG CITY -- The province of Camarines Sur, along with selected areas in Southern Tagalog (Region 4) and the National Capital Region, has been chosen as pilot site for the eco-town project.

A memorandum of agreement was recently signed by representatives of the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and of the International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) of Japan.

Entitled “Green Framework of Innovative Strategy (GFIS),” the project aims to establish demonstration eco-towns in the three regions by improving the environmental performance of both the local industries and the communities through environmental awareness and implementation of cleaner production, energy efficiency, and environmental management system.

Application of those services will help realize a society where waste is reduced and recycled as practicable as possible.

A meeting among the parties led by Masami Hayakawi, managing director of the International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) and CamSur Gov. Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte prefaced the start of implementation of the joint ambitious project.
