THE four days were full of accomplishments when the JCI Naga Cariñosa assisted the Francis Padua-Papica Foundation Inc., during their distribution of books, “Read to Live, Libro Ko Para Sa’yo” program and the 7th Youth Leadership Conference spearheaded by the president of the foundation, Atty. Francis P. Papica, last Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, 2008.

        Each year, FPPFI distributes 100,000 books nationwide and sponsors a leadership conference attended by over 2,000 high school and college students representing over 100 schools in the region.

        Through the initiatives of Atty. Papica, a native of Goa, Camarines Sur, his foundation and JCI Naga Cariñosa, devotedly took the time in distributing books in San Jose Elementary School, Lagonoy Elementary School in Goa, Headstart Day Care Center, Camarines Sur National High School in Naga and Nabua Elementary and High School. Several celebreties came to support the project which include, PBA Basketball Star Vince Hizon, PBA Announcer Patricia Bermudez-Hizon, Commercial Model Richard Nazareth and Former Mayor Benjie Martinez of Balayan, Batangas.

        “Read to Live, Libro Ko Para Sa’yo” program was also made possible in cooperation with Forex, Rotary Club of Teresa District 3820 Naga Chapter, Dr. Jun and Juliet Berberabe, Atty. Gigi Berberabe-Martinez, Atty. Lenny Robredo, Mayor Jesse Robredo, Vice Mayor Gabby Bordado, Avenue Plaza Hotel, DWNX-RMN Naga, Vice Governor Salvio Fortuno and Governor L-Ray Villafuerte.

        The 7th Youth Leadership Conference held February 2, 2008 at the Provincial Capitol in Pili Cam. Sur was attended by thousands of students from different schools of the Bicol Region.

        Several political and showbiz personalities came, like Sen. Kiko Pangilinan who talked about “Your Country, Your Responsibility”; Dra. Vicki Belo who shared “The Art of Self-Confidence”; Seventeen Magazine Fashion Editors Ms. Charmaine Cindy Go and Maria Corazon Mapa who discussed “Visual Impact and Fashion Trends; showbiz’s hottest couple, Pops Fernandez and Jomari Yllana who interactively shared “The Art of Developing and Maximizing Your Hidden Talents”, and the husband and wife team of PBA Basketball Star Vince Hizon and wife, PBA Announcer, Patricia Bermudez-Hizon; who also discussed “A Roadmap to A Healthy Living”. They were the resource speakers on this year’s conference theme: “How to Become a Better You: A Guide to Total Individual Transformation”
