MS. MA. KATHLEENA VAZQUEZ, a member of the UP Diliman UAAP Football Team, was in Naga City last February 23 to give a talk on the topic “I am a Responsible Student-Athlete and I am Proud of It!” The activity was held at the ampitheater of the Madrigal Building for Social Entrepreneurship at the Ateneo de Naga University.

        Members of the Ateneo sports community and student-athletes from other schools in Naga City attended the activity.

        The 19-year old student-athlete truly lived up to her talk. Aside from being a UAAP varsity player for UP Diliman, she is also a university scholar taking up BS Architecture. She took up her high school at Assumption College of Makati where she was a consistent honor student and was president of the student council on her senior year. She also represented the Philippines in the Goetha Football Cup that was held in various venues in Europe.

        Noli Ayo, Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball Team and the Athletics Director of ADNU spearheaded the activity.

        According to Ayo, their office regularly holds the event to help their student-athletes realize the value of balancing their academics and athletics. Last year, their office invited L.A. Tenorio of San Miguel Beer Team and former college basketball standout of the Ateneo Blue Eagles to give the same talk.
