Naga to host PCL-Bicol ‘08 first session

NAGA CITY -- The newly elected set of officers and members of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Councilors League Bicol will conduct its first regular session for 2008 in this city on January 18.

        This was announced by Naga City Councilor John Bongat, the newly-elected PCL regional chairman for Bicol.

        Bongat said the event will be capped by taking the priority agenda for the year and the mapping out of programs that will highlight the organization’s commitment to public service and efficient legislation towards better governance.

        The Philippine Councilors League is the national organization of councilors of all cities and municipalities in the Philippines, with regional chapters established in all 16 regions of the country, including the Bicol Region.

        The participating officers and Board members, Bongat said, will actually be in the city until the 19th of the month where other activities are being prepared for them, including familiarization tour of the city and its suburbs, and tourism and economic investment presentations.

        He said venue and billeting would soon be announced upon finalization of activities.

        Aside from Bongat, the following comprise the new set of officers of PCL Bicol: Councilor Ronnie Samonte of Basud, Camarines Norte, as Vice Chairman; Councilor Michael “Mac-Mac” Naga of Dimasalang, Masbate (PCL Federation President of Masbate Province), as Secretary-General; Councilor Jose Rodolfo “Jojo” Cortes III of Masbate City, as Treasurer; Councilor Tony Olaño of Buhi, Camarines Sur (PCL Federation President of Camarines Sur), as Auditor; and Councilor Pierre Geva of Bulusan, Sorsogon (PCL Federation President of Sorsogon Province), as Public Relations Officer.

        The Members of the Board of Directors are: 1) Councilor Alberto Abayon of Masbate City; 2) Councilor Ma. Lourdes Bilangel Berces of Tabaco City, Albay; 3) Councilor Anthony Callos of Gubat, Sorsogon; 4) Councilor Salvador Del Castillo of Naga City; 5) Councilor Bienvenido Din of Goa, Camarines Sur; 6) Councilor Mario Espinosa of Masbate City; 7) Councilor Erwin Lausin of Labo, Camarines Norte; 8) Councilor Christopher Palevino of Guinobatan, Albay; and 9) Councilor Fanny Torado of Gigmoto, Catanduanes.

        The other PCL Provincial Federation Presidents of Bicol are Councilor Medin Zafe of San Andres, Catanduanes, Councilor Julius Tingzon of Guinobatan, Albay and Councilor Lino Regala of Labo, Camarines Norte.
