‘Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo’
benefits 63,344 families in CSur

PILI, Camarines Sur -– A total of 63,344 families living in coastal, mountainous and upland areas in the province of Camarines Sur were the main beneficiaries of “Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo” project which had been implemented in the four districts of the province.

        Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund ‘LRay’ Villarfuerte provided support personnel to the provincial social welfare office to ensure that the food packs were delivered in time for the New Year celebrations.

        Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer Luzena Bermeo disclosed each food pack contains two kilos of rice, noodles and corned beef.

        Bermeo said the remaining beneficiaries of the “Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo” project are in the towns of Pasacao with 2,463 family beneficiaries, Calabanga - 3,676, Garchitorena – 6,111, and Goa with 4,107 family beneficiaries.

        The other towns already covered by the gift-giving project include Libmanan with 5,968 family beneficiaries, Milaor – 1,703; Pili – 3,761; Caramoan – 8,276; Iriga City – 5,595; Balatan – 2,390; Baao – 2,524; Bula – 2,628; Presentacion – 3,966; Lagonoy – 1,525; Siruma – 4,320; and Tinambac with 3,460 family beneficiaries.

        It was learned from Gov. Villafuerte that aside from the food packs, some 5,000 homeless families in the municipalities of Gainza, Milaor, Pili and Magarao received GI sheets from the National Housing Authority, for the agency’s support to the project.

        On the other hand, FBN Radio DZGE, an AM station in Naga City, provided strong promotion and support to the PGMA “Pamaskong Handog” project with its own program, “Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo On the Road …”

        Through the program, a news team was dispatched to the neighboring towns of Naga City where it would pick at random the recipients, primarily poor families, who received food packs amounting to P220 – P250 that consisted of spaghetti pasta, ham, corned beef and noodles.

        The project was launched on December 24 until December 30, in close coordination with the Office of Congressman Diosdado ‘Dato’ Macapagal Arroyo of the first district of Camarines Sur.
