Tambungui says city police chief to decide
on JR’s request for more cops at city hall

NAGA CITY -- With the tenor and spirit of Mayor Jesse Robredo’s request to detail six policemen to the city hall directed at him to act on, Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Romeo Tambungui said yesterday the decision would come from the city police chief.

Tambungui told the Bicol Mail the decision to deploy police forces in the city rests on Senior Supt. Amor Macoy, police chief of Naga City, so that, he said, he has to forward the letter-request to the latter.

Robredo noted in his letter-request that the police chief was the one who pulled out all the detailed policemen assigned to secure the city hall and in his security.

When asked what was his response to Robredo’s complaint regarding the police chief’s action, Tambungui reiterated that it’s now up to Macoy to act on them.

He said that he put notation directing Macoy to take action on the request to detail six policemen at the city hall in which he said two policemen were already deployed there as an initial response.

The provincial police director did not give timetable of the police chief’s complete compliance to the request and maintained that he would leave it to the latter to decide on the deployment.

Tambungui said that all he knew it was only Lito Del Rosario, the head of the Public Safety Office, who reported he was being followed by unidentified men.

He said he knew nothing about other officials of the city hall being tailed. (Juan Escandor Jr.)
