Typoco, guests no show at Rizal rites

DAET,Camarines Norte -- Some employees of the Provincial Capitol here criticized Governor Jesus Typoco Jr for his executive order requiring all employees and department heads in that office to attend the Rizal Day celebration on December 30, this year at Daet town.

It was learned that for several times Typoco’s order was aired over Radio DWCN-FM “Ang Radio ng Bayan” for all concerned to strictly join the lllth anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal and the offering of flowers at the first monument of the national hero in Magallanes Iraya, Daet, this province.

In an interview yesterday, January 2, the first day of work in 2008, with employees at said office, they said they were dismayed at the absence of the governor for no known reason during the occasion and his replacement by Boardmember Jonah Pimentel.

Key personalities Congresswoman Liwayway Chato, who was part of the program, Vice Governor Roy Padilla Jr and the entire group of the provincial board, except Pimentel, did not attend the commemoration rites.

Even though the statue of Rizal was newly renovated, there were no streamers and other decorations at the Rizal Park and only the wreath brought by the employees and the Knights of Rizal was laid at the foot of the monument.

“It is a shame that even the one who sent out the memo for the celebration is absent,” an employee who requested anonymity said.
