Happy music for happy people: that’s pretty much what you’d define the Bloomfield’s sound once you start listening to their 60s style of music, comparable to that of legendary bands like Beatles and the Beach Boys. But don’t get me wrong, there is more to these boys than meets the eye (or ear, if you prefer).
The Bloomfields are a five piece band, consisting of Jay Jay Lozano (guitar/vocals/synth/harmonica), Rocky Callado (drums/vocals), Louie Paco (bass/vocals), Lakan Hila (keyboards/synth/vocals), and Pepe Lozano (guitars/vocals).
The Bloomfields started out during their high school years in as a punk-rock band, playing Blink182 and McCarthy. But when they stepped foot into college, there was a sudden change. They started playing “happy” songs like Ritchie Valens’ number one hit “La Bamba” as staple gig tracks. They noticed that the crowd enjoyed what they were playing and decided to carry on with 60s music gig after gig.
Now signed under EMI Philippines, the boys are on a roll: with their first single “Wala Nang Iba”, followed by “Ale” hitting the radio waves and could be seen on famous music programs on TV; from Myx to MTV Philippines.
The boys first came to Naga last November 9, 2007 and perform at Avenue Convention Plaza courtesy of Ateneo H/S Batch ’77 & Lolo’s Music Bar & Restaurant. Their concert was a big hit, and they left Bicol with the crowd wanting more.
Now, they’re coming back to Naga City courtesy of Lolo’s Music Bar and the Doctors on Call, bringing their retro vibe with them! They will be performing at the Ateneo Gymnasium; 7:00 P.M. this February 9th, ready to satisfy Naga City’s crave for the retro music that’s been longed for.
The question is, are we ready? Brace yourselves, the Bloomfields are coming to give you the best ride back to the 60s you’d ever have!
Tickets are available at ABBS Org, (Ateneo) Lolo’s Music Bar and Doctors on Call Clinic, all in Naga City.
