Businesswoman hurt in holdup

DAET,Camarines Norte -- A businesswoman was shot in the right leg with a .45 calibre after she repulsed her attacker inside her car parked in front of Siennalos Restaurant, Froilan Avenue here Friday morning, January 25.

        The victim, Edna Cruz De Guzman, resident of Eco. Avenue, Barangay 4, Mercedes, this province, was rushed to the Leon Hernandez Memorial Hospital. She is reported to be on stable condition.

        Based on investigation by the police, De Guzman was waiting for her husband Nemesio when an unidentified man wearing yellow helmet held a gun to her head and declared holdup while a companion stood as look-out.

        In an interview with the Bicol Mail, Alvin Pena, security guard of the UCPB Bank, claimed that the holdupper fired his gun while a generator was rattling so loud that the gunshot went unnoticed. The culprits in tandem before escaping on a Honda scooter held the guard at gunpoint who decided not to fight for fear of getting bystanders by the bank hurt.

        The robbers took off with the bag of De Guzman containing P300 and two checks of undetermined value.
