NAGA CITY -– The city government, through the Metro Naga Public Employment and Service Office and its Women Empowerment through Enterprise Development (WEED) Project, will be sponsoring this year’s 2nd Women Entrepreneurs’ Week, or the 2WEW’08 on February 11-16, 2008.
The WEED Project had launched its 1st WEW in 2007 which was aimed at strengthening the productivity and capability of women entrepreneurs in the informal sector (IS), particularly by providing technology training, marketing and capital assistance.
A project partnered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Camarines Sur, the 2WEW’08 aims to: 1) promote women entrepreneuriship in the city, 2) provide market exposure for women entrepreneur products, and 3) provide skills training to women as alternative livelihood.
MetroPeso Manager Florencio T. Mongoso said this year’s event will be highlighted by a series of skills trainings at the Center for WEED, MetroPeso, City Hall Complex, a women’s entrepreneur’s bazaar at Plaza Quezon (Feb 14-16) and the launching of One-Town-One Product (OTOP) pili nut candy label of Naga City (February 13).
Right after the OTOP pili nut label launching, the DOST-Camarines Sur will also conduct an orientation seminar on food safety sanitation and quality control for pili nut processors at Barangays Triangulo and Lerma from 2 to 5 p.m.
Following is the schedule for the skills training at Center for WEED, MetroPeso, DOLE Building, City Hall Complex:
1. Food for the God (baking) – Feb.11 (8 a.m.); 2. Custard Cake Making – Feb. 12 (1 p.m.); 3. Orientation Seminar on Food Safety, Sanitation and Quality Control – Feb. 13 (2 p.m.); 4. Rellenong Bangus – Feb. 15 (8 a.m.) 5. Handcrafted Jewelry Workshop – Feb. 16 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Because of limited slots, interested training participants will be required to pre-register from January 28 to February 7, 2008 at MetroPeso. Look for Bong San Antonio at call him at 8118231/4738274. Walk-in participants on the day of the activity will not be accepted, it was stressed.
