ASSESSING PEACE AND ORDER SITUATION. In order to reasonably address pressing concerns confronting the local executives of the various municipalities of Camarines Sur especially on maintenance of peace and order in their area of jurisdiction, Gov. LRay Villafuerte convened the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) last June 27, 2008 at Villa Del Rey, Cadlan, Pili. During the meeting that was also attended by provincial board members, chiefs of police of the various towns, media practitioners and representatives from government agencies like DTI, the mayors who attended were given the chance to offer suggestions and voice out their sentiments on the current peace and order situation that was fortunately heard by newly installed Police Provincial Director Rodolfo LLorca who was also around address their common problem which turned out to be a lack of police personnel in their towns. The mayors of Sagñay, Milaor, Tigaon, Canaman, San Fernando, Buhi, Nabua, Gainza, Bato, Baao, Ragay, Del Gallego, Tinambac, Goa, Pili, Ocampo, Magarao, Cabusao, Sipocot, Camaligan, Caramoan, and Bula were all present during the occasion. TGP BICOL WINNER. Eng’r Raul T. Carreras (right) of Tigaon, Camarines Sur was chosen as most outstanding Magsasaka Siyentista in Bicol which qualified him to vie for the national award in July, under the Techno-Gabay Program (TGP) of the Philippine Consortium for Agriculture Resources Research and Development (PCARRD). Handing the award is Dr. Danilo C. Cardenas, Director for Research and Development, PCARRD-DOST. On the other hand, Guinobatan LGU-Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry (BUCAF) was the regional winner in the search for the best Farmers’ Information and Technology Service (FITS) Center in the region and likewise qualifies in the national search. Soldiers of the Army’s 9th Infantry “Spear” Division undergo series of rigid combat training at Camp Elias Angeles in Pili Camarines Sur in preparation for its massive assault against the communist insurgents operating across the Bicol region. Army Major Gen. Jeffrey Sodusta, commanding general of the Army’s 9th Infantry Divison vowed to finish off and wipe out the communist guerillas before PGM’s timetable ends.
