Gang members killed in firefight with police

LEGAZPI CITY --- Two members of a newly-identified armed gang involved in robbery hold-up in the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur were killed in a firefight with police operatives who were out to arrest them Monday last week in Bgy. Cristo Rey, Bato, Camarines Sur.

        Police identified the two slain suspects as Francisco Ilarde y Castro, and Reynaldo Ibi, both believed to be members of the Dacer Gang and reported to be residents of Polangui, Albay.

        Police operatives who were conducting surveillance operation upon information that members of the dreaded gang were seen in the area were met with gunshots coming from the suspects. Exchange of fires ensued which resulted to the killing of the two gang members.

        Recovered from the scene of the gunfight were two pieces of caliber 357 pistol TM Smith and Wesson; one caliber .38 pistol revolver; assorted ammunitions; empty shells; one unit Honda XRM motorcycle with plate no. MC8175EA; one unit Zusuki raider motorcycle with plate number MC9924ED; two units Nokia cellphone; holsters and camouflage fatigue uniforms; and other personal belongings.

        Police Chief Sup’t. Roberto Bondoc, PRO5 chief, said that with the death of the two Dacer Gang members, police have gained the upperhand in its fight against notorious robbers. He said his men will continue to pursue the criminals to finally neutralize their illegal activities, especially highway robberies and hold-ups.
