LEGAZPI CITY – The Search Committee of the Magayon Festival 2008 and the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) have finally selected the 20 official candidates for the Mutya ng Magayon and 20 candidates for Ginoong Magayon.

        The selection of the qualified candidates for both the Mutya and Ginoong Magayon was made by a panel of judges last March 14 at the Concourse Convention Center, Gov. Forbes St., Legazpi City.

        The Beauty Pageant and Coronation of the Mutya ng Magayon 2008 will be held on April 25 starting at 7 p.m. at Albay Astrodome.

Major Awards:
        During the Coronation Night, the winner of the Mutya ng Magayon title will receive P100,000 cash plus trophy, bouquet and sash.First runner-up P75,000 trophy, bouquet and sash; Second runner-up P50,000 trophy, bouquet and sash; Special major award for Magayon Festival-Tourism P30,000 cash plus trophy, bouquet and sash. Open to candidate from Albay only.

Minor Awards:
        Miss Talent – P5,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash; Miss Photogenic – P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash; Miss Congeniality – P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash, Miss Telegenic – P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash; Best in Production Number - P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash; Best in Swimsuit – P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash; Best in Philippine Terno – P3,000 cash trophy, bouquet and sash.

        The best in Philippine Terno designer will receive a special prize of P30,000 plus trophy. First runner-up – P25,000; Second runner-up – P20,000; Ginoong Magayon Tourism will receive a special award of P10,000. Open to candidates from Albay only.

        Prizes for Magayon Street Dancing --The Magayon Street Dancing Competition will be held on April 26 at 3 pm at Peñaranda Park. Big cash prizes to be awarded: First prize – P300,000; Second prize – P200,000; Third prize – P100,000.

Special Awards:
        Best in street dancing (moving choreographer) – P50,000; Best in costume – P50,000; Best in festival legend showdown: First prize – P100,000; Second prize – P75,000; Third prize – P50,000; Best in moving choreography – P10,000; Best in costume – P10,000.
