ROCO YOUTH AWARD. The Pag-Asa Youth Association of the Philippines, Pamplona (CamSur) Chapter won the Raul Roco Youth Achievement 2008 Award for its “Bio-Sand Water Filter Project” (a joint effort with the Rotary Club’s Clean Water Project). Shown receiving the glass trophy and P50,000 cash prize from Mrs. Sonia Roco (wife of the late Bicolano senator and leader) is PYAP President Arvin Regino and BSWF supervisor-coordinator Maricel Cuevas, as Naga City Mayor Jess Robredo, Vice-Mayor Gabby Bordado, and Councilor Nathan Sergio (Rotary Club of Naga Representative) look on.
BOOM TOWN. From the rooftop one sees and feels the frenzied pace attending the construction of SM City Naga (foreground) with giant steel cranes hovering a monolith of hollow blocks and concrete that will soon be dominating the skyline along busy Panganiban Avenue. Further in the foreground is the newly-completed signal tower of the proposed GMA 7 Bicol Regional Broadcast Center that will be formally launched in the first quarter of next year. RANDY VILLAFLORFOR GOOD MEASURE. A public safety officer makes a routine check on two motor-riding teeners along Magsaysay Street, Naga City’s food and entertainment hub, as part of the city’s heightened crime prevention and traffic regulation program to make busy sections of the city safe and secure from road mishaps and petty crimes especially at night when people are having fun in their favorite watering holes. LOUD AND CLEAR. A cause-oriented group in Naga City makes a political statement to be sure that the Constitution is not touched at least until 2010. DANNY AUREUS
