Rapist meted life in prison

DAET,Camarines Norte---Isagani Arangcon, 57, of this town has to spend the next years of his life in jail after a regional trial court here found him guilty of two counts of rape.

In a 55-page decision, the court said Arangcon was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of raping his victims, who were minors when the crime was committed more than ten years ago.

Arangcon, however, was acquitted from the third count of rape charged against him for lack of sufficient evidence.

The convicted rapist was the second husband of the mother of the victims, who were sisters.

Four years after the victims’ mother had left to work in Japan; their stepfather started his sexual assaults. Later, the victims were forced to report to the police.

The convicted rapist was ordered to pay P175, 000 to the victims as indemnity.

He is currently detained at the Camarines Norte Provincial Jail, waiting for his transfer to the National Bilibid Prison next month.
