LEGAZPI CITY – Twenty beauties from different parts of Bicol are vying for the Mutya ng Ibalong 2008 title which carries a cash prize of P 100,000 plus other gifts and minor prizes.

        The 20 finalists in their swimsuit were presented before the members of the media last Tuesday night at Hotel Venezia.

        The Candidates are: 1) Bessie Lavarro Lucido, 21, Legazpi City; 2) Shindy Arcinue Ortal, 20, Legazpi City; 3) Angela Mirandilla Amador, 17, Masbate City ; 4) Micha Altea Buenavente Cabaero, 18, Tigaon, Camarines Sur; 5) April Armamento Santillan 22, LC; 6) Paula Agnelica Jasareno, 19, Sorsogon City; 7) Lizi Louise B. Resoles, 18, Naga city; 8) Catherine Dominique Lagrimas 19, Nabua, Camarines Sur.; 9) Casey Anne Ante Austria, 16, LC; 10) May Ann Balino Balingbing, 19, Sto. Domingo, Albay; 11) Crisandra Condat Berces, 21, Tabaco City; 12) Jessica Faballa Biasca, 20, Buhi, Camarines Sur.; 13) Sarah Segundo Syed, 19, Daraga, Albay; 14) Harijane G. Chua, 22, Daraga, Albay; 15) Dianne Samar Necio, 16, Polangui, Albay;

        16) Kelly Banos Obligacion,18, Legazpi City; 17)Ma. Rochelle Perez, 20, Sorsogon city; 18) Jane Riel Banares, 19, Legazpi City; and Ma. Rochell Ruth Osia Rebeta, 18, Guinobatan, Abay.

        The swimsuit competition will be held on Oct. 26, 4-8 p.m. at the Bicol University Oval while the long gown competition will be held on Oct. 27, 7-11 p.m. at the same venue.

        The beauty pageant and coronation of Mutya ng Ibalong 2008 will held on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Albay Astrodome.

        At stake are: Mutya ng Ibalong 2008 will received P100.000; 1st runner up, P75,000; Miss Friendship, P5,000; Best in long gown, P 5,000. The best designer of the year will receive P8,000 plus trophy.

        Celebrities invited to host the Beauty Pageant include Paolo Bediones of GMA TV 7, Kristine Caballero Mutya ng Pilipinas 2002, and Jeanne Harn, Miss Earth Philippines 2007, Celebrity dancer Iya Villania will also grace the occasion.

        Mrs. Geraldine Barrameda – Rosal, first lady of City Mayor Noel Rosal, herself a former Mutya ng Ibalong ’94 title holder, is this year’s chairperson of the Search for the Mutya ng Ibalong.

        Well-known couturier and beauty and talent consultant Rene salud is the project director.
