IRIGA CITY --- Narcotics agents uncovered an illegal drug den in this city on Tuesday, Oct. 21, and are now hot on the trail for three suspected drug traders that operate in the area, an officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol said on Wednesday.
Police narcotics agents early morning Tuesday swooped down on two doors of an apartment in Zone 2, Barangay San Juan, this city, but failed to collar the suspected den operators who were quick enough to vanish from the scene.
The raiding team led by Police Supt. Tomasito Clet was armed with a search warrant issued by a local court. They identified the suspected drug operators as Eric Mendoza, and certain Totoy and George.
Clet said the raiding team seized from the two doors of the various drug paraphernalia, bottle and plastic con-tainers, compressor and a significant volume of chemicals used in producing methamphetamine Hydro-chloride, which is popularly known as “shabu.”
Clet said the discovery of the suspected drug den was another breakthrough in their relentless campaign against illegal drugs in the city.
The raid was a result of an intense surveillance operation after residents there complained of distinctive foul odor and suspicious people coming in and out of the two-door apartment rented by Mendoza.
Police had established check points within the city as they continued to tighten their noose on the elusive suspects.
