30 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE
Radio enthusiasts pay tribute to their pioneers

NAGA CITY---To celebrate its 30th year of foundation this year, the Civic Action of Radio Enthusiasts Inc. (DX4CAR) is to pay tribute to its founders on October 25 at the Mendoza’s Aimpoint Range in Concepcion Pequeña of this city.

Thirty years ago, twelve young men from this city and the towns of Camarines Sur enthusiastically poured their energies to form DX4CAR using their own resources and equipment to communicate through radios which grew and developed from a hobby to a civic action endeavor serving the public.

Realizing that communication facilities play a big role in emergency assistance, the DX4CAR together with the Philippine Amateur Radio Association (Para) launched a much bigger endeavor by implementing a community reach out program, which became an effective channel to mobilize the government and other organizations in the implementation of public service-oriented program.

Today, with the coming of more modern system of amateur radio communication like the echolink (using internet alongside the traditional base or portable radio set-ups), the DX4CAR has expanded its operation of service outside the boundaries of the province, region and country. It has maintained contacts and partnership with International Amateur Radio clubs in Canada, United States and other countries in North America.

Because of its achievement in public service, the DX4CAR pays tribute to its pioneer members on its 30th year of existence by hosting “Balik Care” to reminisce its early accomplishments and formulate plans toward a more service-oriented amateur radio communication.
