IRIGA CITY – A Grade V pupil from a university, here, topped the regional schools press conference in feature writing category with the theme Tac: Tagapagtanggol Ka Ba Ng Kalikasan?”

        The pupil: Kathleen Diane Alcemendas Pineda bested 38 others who represented their respective schools divisions throughout the Bicol Region in Bacacay, Albay last October 13-16 this year.

        Pineda, from the University of Saint Anthony-Montessori here was the entry to the regional tilt after she edged out the contestants from the public and private schools here last month.

        She will be Bicol’s bet in the national competition in February next year to be held in Naga City.

        Pineda is the first granddaughter of Mr. and Prime Alcemendas of Nabua, Camarines Sur.
